Frieda's Happy Tail Image
Frieda's Happily Ever After means being loved unconditionally despite all of her challenges and never giving up.

The day Frieda came to us in December 2023 from Animal Control, she was in deplorable condition and was clearly suffering from past trauma. Frieda had been found on the side of the road covered head to toe in horrible infections. She also displayed very odd and very vocal, self-mutilating behaviors. It took over one year to get Frieda to where she is today - after countless trials of different oral and topical medication trials and failures, severe and painful seasonal/environmental allergy flares to heal her and make her comfortable, as well as specialty behavior training to help manage her Canine Compulsive Disorder.

Frieda received the medical care and training she needed, but if not for the love, affection, comfort and kindness of so many people, our Frieda Bear could never have learned to trust and be able to love people again.

Over the 18 months Frieda was with us, there were so many applications for her. Many could not handle her medical and emotional needs, some were more than willing to take on the medical care and emotional support, but just couldn't afford her dietary and medical costs. Although she still has special dietary and ongoing medical care requirements, Frieda has grown into such a sweet, loving, trusting soul that she is barely recognizable as the same dog.

Poor Frieda had an incredibly long wait for "her people" to find her, but it finally happened.

Frieda was officially adopted by a volunteer and her husband! In March 2025, Frieda went for a sleepover at their house for a change of scenery from the shelter she had called home for so long. This turned into a foster situation, then after 4 months, she never came back!

Her new parents had been trying to convince Frieda to make it official and stay with them forever, but she'd been holding out. Foster mom took her shopping, took her to the Farmer's Market, the Pet Store, basically anywhere she wanted to go, but it wasn't until foster dad promised Frieda that she could have his convertible that she finally agreed!
