Sully's Happy Tail Image
When Sully first arrived, it was clear life had not been easy on him — but you would never know it by his attitude. His tail wagged constantly, his smile never faded, and volunteers quickly joked that Sully never met a stranger… only friends he hadn’t greeted yet.

He loved everyone so much that his own happiness caused him pain. His endlessly wagging tail led to a severe condition known as “happy tail,” requiring surgery. Soon after, Sully faced something even more serious — a life-threatening blockage that required emergency surgery. Supporters rallied behind him, donations poured in, and an entire community helped make sure he got the care he needed.

While he healed in a loving foster home — surrounded by blankets, toys, and people determined to see him recover — Sully never lost his spirit.

Then one day, at an adoption event, someone heard his story… and met the dog behind it.

She didn’t just see a medical case.
She saw her dog.

After a home visit and a single night sleepover, Sully never left. He had found what he had been waiting for all along — not just a home, but his person.

Today, Sully is the bright spot in his family’s life. His mom says it feels as though he has always been there, like the missing piece they didn’t know they were searching for. He listens patiently to after-work conversations, insists on cuddles, and proudly escorts his family on long walks while checking back often to make sure they are still following him.

His days are now filled with games of tug-of-war, toy “destruction,” backyard rabbit patrol, and his favorite weekly tradition: two boiled eggs every Saturday morning. He greets visitors with his famous pit bull smile, enthusiastic hugs, and the occasional graceless slide across the kitchen floor. Despite his size, he somehow manages to perch on couches, windowsills — and even the kitchen sink — just to stay close to his people.

Most of all, Sully loves contact. Any contact. A hand to lean into, a lap to climb onto, or someone simply sitting nearby. After everything he endured, he wants to be sure of one thing: his family is still there.

And they are.

His mom says it best:
Their family has changed for the better since adopting him, and they remind him every day that he is safe, loved, and a very good and handsome boy.

Sully’s life was saved by many hands — volunteers, fosters, transporters, donors, and advocates. Because of them, a dog who once fought just to survive now spends his days doing what he was always meant to do:

Being loved.

This is Sully’s happily ever after. And in many ways… it belongs to all of us.
